Love is the spirit of this church, and service its law.
This is our great covenant: to dwell together in peace,
To seek the truth in love, and to help one another

| The Unitarian Church in Westport, our spiritual home, has provided ethical, moral and spiritual sustenance to religious liberals in this area for over 50 years. It has offered a choice to those of us who believe there is more than one source of truth. We view this beloved community as a place to develop our individual paths at the same time that we share our common values – values that are supported by our services, programs and activities. |
| |
We give money, then, not to build a church but to transform lives, starting with our own.
|
-- Peter Henrickson, Unitarian Universalist |

| There has never been a more critical time for the liberal religious values of freedom, reason and tolerance than now. As Unitarian Universalists we have no dogma, no catechism to memorize. We have too great a respect for the mystery of existence to claim that we have somehow figured out the truth. Rather we gather to support one another as we grow in spirit and in understanding. And just as we believe that we must be free to choose our own faith, we also defend others’ rights to choose theirs. Our religion can transform lives and through our church we can truly make a difference in this world. This is why we give our financial resources as well as our time and talents to this church. |

| Dear Friends, stand by this faith. Work for it and sacrifice for it. There is nothing in all the world so important to you as to be loyal to this faith which has placed before you the loftiest ideal, which has comforted you in sorrow, strengthened you for the noble duty and made the world beautiful for you. |
-- Rev. Olympia Brown (1835-1926), First Ordained Universalist woman minister |
| |
| Each year in the Annual Giving Campaign we ask that our members and friends give careful thought to this church, the tradition it represents, its place in our lives, and the opportunities it offers us for spiritual growth. All are asked to make a responsible, annual pledge – a commitment – to its support and continuance. Pledges are the primary source of revenue that keeps our church open and thriving – the foundation upon which we build our spiritual home. |
