The
Care Network "...and to help one another"
Contact: Care@UUWestport.org
In a congregation with a sense of shared ministry, the Care network provides
an added pastoral and support presence with the professional ministry of the
church.
Our "Care Network" is made up of volunteer members who are ready to
offer care in this community if you are in the midst of a transition,
crisis, or need. The Care Network has volunteers who can offer you rides
to church or medical appointments, or run an errand. There are volunteers
in Westport, Weston, Fairfield, Norwalk, Wilton, and the other towns.
Jan Braunle and Maria Lehmejian help volunteers within our various
towns provide casseroles and other services to those who let us know that they
are needed. We welcome additional help in the coordination of this care effort.
In addition, the program of Pastoral Care associates continues.
A visit from a Pastoral Care associate does not replace a visit by the ministers.
New to the Care Network this year is the formation of our Shawl Ministry.
Members of this group meet on a regular basis to knit or crochet shawls
for people facing challenges, crisis or grief as well as joy and celebration.
Also new is our Card Ministry. Donated greeting cards are available to
church members as a way of sharing and responding to the joys and concerns
of fellow congregants. It is an extension of our Candle Lighting ritual
during Sunday service and is a way of reaching out to each other.
