Every Child is Our Child is a UU United Nations Office partnership with a traditional community organization - the Queen Mothers Association - to provide education for AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children in Eastern Ghana
As a UN registered non-governmental organization (NGO) the UU United Nations Office gives UUs a voice in global affairs and keeps congregations in touch with UN activities.
Role of UU Nations Office:
- Education
- Advocacy
- Action on global issues such as the UN’s Millennium Development Goals
UN Millennium Development Goals addressed by Every Child is Our Child program:
- Universal Primary Education
- Gender Equality
- Combat HIV/AIDS
The Unitarian Univeralist Sixth Principle is the goal of a world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all.
Every Child is Our Child provides real life opportunity to practice our UU principles:
- Provide education to a threatened generation
- Collaborate in global partnerships to protect the human rights of children
- Empower the disenfranchised and most vulnerable
- Community Leaders in Global Partnership
Education is the doorway out of poverty and key to knowledge of AIDS prevention.
What Every Child is Our Child Provides
- Our program provides required school fees.
- Necessary school fees which are required, but not funded by the government
- Enrollment/Exam Fees
- School supplies, library services, sports programs
- School Uniforms
- Basic health care for the student and their foster family
Future plans are to supplement health care funds and support mentoring programs.
Program Design and Accountability:
- Queen Mothers place children in family,providebasic food,shelter.
- Advisory Committee will select children for school enrollment.
- UU United Nations Office to promote program and seeknecessary funding.
- Monies paid directly to school . Program Monitor & Administrationtrack progress o child at home and in school for Queen Mothers and UU United Nations Office.
Supporting Every Child is Our Child
We urge UUs to contribute to this vital program which educates over 1,500 AIDS orphans and vulnerable children
All contributions are welcome!
- $80 pays for a year’s education for one child
- $800 provides a complete/ basic education for a child
- For a small investment you can make a big difference in the life of a vulnerable child.
