"The Seven Precious Gestures" Audio

What is precious to you? What do you hold close to your heart? In these turbulent times, how can we all find ways to connect to what is precious? Through the practice of Qigong, an ancient Chinese form of meditative movement, we have discovered the ability to access that place inside where we hold our precious selves. "Qigong" literally translates to "energy work or cultivation" and combines breath, posture and mental focus.

Darryl Manning, a church member for 24 years, & Maryann Charmoz offered Qigong classes through our Odyssey Program in April.

Freedom of Conscience: Our right and our responsibility Audio

Our colonial forbearers risked their lives following their visions of religion freedom, freedom to believe the dictates of their faith traditions, to assemble, and to worship without censorship or persecution. Their legacy to us is the carefully crafted right to freedom of conscience. On this Independence Day we will honor this legacy of religious freedom and reflect on its calling in our lives today.

Frances Sink is a member of the congregation and a Candidate for Unitarian Universalist ministry.

What, if anything, do Unitarian Universalists need to agree on for the future of our faith? What is the unique gift we have to give that justifies our existence as a separate religion?

Rev. Kathleen Korb (Katy) graduated from Harvard Divinity School and was ordained in Sharon, MA, thirty-one years ago. She has served churches in New London, CT and New Orleans, LA, and has been the minister in Naples, FL, since 2001.

When Jesus Came to Fowlerton

It’s a story about a real miracle that happened in a very small town in south Texas in the summer of 1952. Not the kind of miracle in which sticks are turned to snakes; no loaves and fishes, no burning bushes. No, this is the kind of miracle that happens when you’re very young - young enough to believe in miracles.

Music by Paul Bluestein and friends.

Lynda Shannon has served on many committees, sings in various choirs, has taught 8th Grade OWL and currently Chairs the Nominating Committee. Lynda is also active in the Unitarian Universalist Association, now the Chair of the UUA's General Assembly Planning Committee.

The Gospel According to Harry Potter

For over 10 years, the remarkable popularity of the Harry Potter books has caused strong reactions, both pro and con. Are these stories sinful, as some fundamentalists claim, or are they actually deeply spiritual? Connie Rockman, a children's literature consultant and long-time member of our congregation, will discuss the theological and moral aspects of this highly imaginative world that has captivated readers of all ages.

Exodus and Me

Author Bruce Feiler tells us: "One reason Moses has inspired so many Americans over the centuries is that he evangelizes action; he justifies risk. He gives ordinary people the courage to live with uncertainty." I was born into a family that revered Exodus. It's my story and I'm sticking with it in religion, in politics, in the day-by-day, year-to-year shaping of my life.

Debra is our endorsed Community Minister and director of the Religious Institute on Sexual Morality, Justice & Healing

“The To-Be List”
(Please bring water from your summer travels for our water communion)

As we move through endless to-do lists and responsibilities, how do we want to approach our work, personal, and congregational life? Who are we in what we do? If we pause to ponder our to-be list, we give ourselves the opportunity to make choices about how we live and give meaning to our motions

Perry Montrose begins his fourth year as our Director of Religious Education appreciative of each person’s unique presence and offering companionship to people of all ages on the spiritual journey.
